Be the "Onsies" Who Change the World

First, The class was having a class meeting.

“Hey, I was thinking of some service projects we can do. I asked some ladys that are from Our Lady's Inn if they needed any supplies for their babies. They said they needed onesies,”said Mrs. Lonigro.

Then some of the kids raised their hand and asked questions about what we were going to do.

“I was thinking that the class could bring in some onesies and then give them to the ladies at Our lady's Inn. The other classes can bring in onesies too,” said Mrs.Lonigro.

Along with the onesies there was a contest. There was a coloring contest, you could color in the paper onesies that Mrs. Lonigro gave you. So many people did the contest. When we counted, over thirty-five onesies were colored. Mrs. Lonigro said there was going to be 3 winners. This was such a big hit other classes were coloring onesies too. Mrs. lonigro was so happy.

A day or two later people started bringing onesies in. We started off with about 11 and as the days went on, we got more and more. Then at the end of the week there were a lot of people that had turned in onesies for Our Lady’s Inn. So people kept bringing in onesies and everyday people brought in 2 or more. Teachers, administrator, and other classes joined in our collection. Then it ended, nobody could bring in anymore onesies. We had collected about 150 onesies for Our Lady’s Inn. The people at the shelter said they were very happy that we did this.

One class meeting, our whole class was talking about onesies and so every time we would set a new goal of how many onesies we were going to get. Our original goal was 40 onesies. But we had so many onesies brought in that we went over are goal so many times. At our class meetings we were talking about it and encouraging our whole class to get more onesies.. Also Mrs. Lonigro said, “Great news we raised 150 onesies total.”

Next, we delivered the onesies to the shelter. When we got to Our Lady’s Inn we waited for a lady to take us to the attic where we took everything out of bags and folded all the onesies. Then she told us about there system and how they had a boy’s side and a girl’s side. So there were tons of bins that were labeled

months so we knew where to put clothes. If there were coats, we would hang them up on a bar hanging on a wall. Then she would tell us what they did if there was a baby just born or a new mom with a kid. Our Lady’s Inn makes a big basket with clothes, bottles, pacifiers, diapers, clothes, and everything else a baby might need. Many of these moms have nothing and most will not have a baby shower.
